A former firefighter with the Ward 5 department in Turkey Creek has been arrested.

Ezra Madrigal, 23, was booked yesterday with one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile, records at the Evangeline Parish jail indicate. He remains in the jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Madrigal was booked on a warrant that was issued following an investigation by the Turkey Creek Police Department.

Officers were called by Fire Chief Bobby Guilbeau last week, a spokesman said. Guilbeau said someone called to tell him that an employee at the fire station was having in appropriate contact with a juvenile. Security cameras were installed at the station, and the video was brought to police, the spokesman said.

Guilbeau told KATC that the allegation was that the inappropriate contact with the male juvenile happened during work hours at the station. He said a disciplinary hearing was held for Madrigal on October 11, following the department's own internal investigation. Madrigal was terminated following that hearing, Guilbeau said.

The arrest warrant was issued for Madrigal based on the footage, the spokesman said.

The investigation is continuing, he said. Chief Guilbeau asks the public to contact Officer McMurray of the Turkey Creek Police Dept. at 337-461-2756 or through 911 if they have any information relative to these events.

The Turkey Creek Police Department would like to urge the community to report any illegal activity to the Evangeline Parish 911 office at 337-363-3345 or for emergencies dial 911.
