The Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division is asking for help from the public identifying a theft suspect.

Video surveillance captured a vehicle pull into a driveway on LA Hwy 82, north of Abbeville, on Thursday (October 12, 2017) at 11:38 a.m. The suspect hooked up a utility trailer and departed southbound on LA Hwy 82 from the residence, according to police. The trailer is described as 12-foot metal frame utility trailer (black in color) with a rear drop down gate, bearing VIN 1A9US12143B466227 with LA license plate E890249.

The vehicle is described as a Chevrolet Suburban, 2000-2006 model with factory rims, all white in color, with possible damage to the valance of the front bumper and aftermarket fender flares painted white.

The suspect then traveled to a residence located on LA Hwy 339 near the intersection of Albert Road and stole a Snapper Pro Zero-turn lawnmower, 61" deck, red in color (Deck Model number 5900601 and Serial number 201640448 with a Briggs and Stratton Engine - Serial number 0116G1, Model number 613777), according to detectives. The suspect backed up the utility trailer under the carport, started the lawnmower and loaded it onto the trailer before departing the residence.  Detectives obtained video surveillance from a store in the Coteau area showing the vehicle traveling East towards the St. Martinville/Cade area.

If anyone has any information on the above vehicle and/or utility trailer, please contact Sergeant Cody Waldmann at 337-898-4403 or 337-322-1736 or Sergeant Regina Hargrave at 337-652-8193.  The utility trailer and Zero-tune lawnmower are entered into NCIC.
