Reminder for voter registration in November 18th runoff election

The voter registration deadline for the November 18 runoff election is slowly approaching 

The deadline for in-person registration will be Wednesday, October 18, 2017, a month before the runoff election begins. The deadline for online registration will end ten days later on Saturday, October 28, 2017. 

If you would like to vote in the November 18th election and are not registered to vote where you live, you must sign up before the deadlines listed above. 

Voting and early voting locations and locations can be found on the Secretary of States website https://voterportal.sos.la.gov/

Voters across the state of Louisiana will be choosing a State Treasurer after the general election race ended with a runoff. Democrat Derrick Edwards and Republican John Schroder will head to a runoff after a split in the six-candidate race on October 14, 2017. 

Two parishes in Acadiana will also have something extra on the ballot. 

St. Landry Parish 

St. Landry Parish has a runoff for a council member seat in the town of Washington. Republican Dallas Leger, will go up against No Party candidate Tanya Doucet.

St. Mary Parish

The candidates of the Franklin City Marshal race are headed to a runoff and three sewage and drainage millage have been renewed and continued. Democrat Rogers C. Washington Sr. and Independent  Carla Bourgeois Weidenboerner will be the two candidates on the ballot in the Franklin City Marshal race.

The runoff election will be held on Nov. 18, 2017.
