Police say a 13-year-old girl left her newborn baby near the front door of a teacher's home in Baker, LA Saturday morning, According to the Advocate.

The paper reports that the baby, which was wrapped in a blanket, was still attached to the umbilical cord when police responded to the home. The baby was taken to a local hospital.

"(She) couldn't think of what to do with the baby, so (she) left it at the teacher's door," Police Chief Carl Dunn said. The girl was not identified and Dunn said at this point they are not expecting any arrests, though their investigation remains ongoing.

WBRZ reports that according to police, the young girl did not know she was pregnant until she gave birth Sunday morning around five o'clock.
