The Church Point Police have arrested a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting incident on October 6 in Church Point.
According to arrested reports police arrested Robert "Tweety" Wheeler on Thursday, October 12 on charges of conspiracy to commit attempted second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault with a firearm.
The arrest stems from the shooting incident that occurred on October 6 on Martin Luther King Dr. in Church Point. Rayne Police helped with the investigation and detectives were able to arrest one suspect, Royel Wheeler, earlier this week. Royel was booked with attempted second-degree murder and aggravated assault.
Church Point Middle School was locked down during the shooting incident on October 6, 2017. The lockdown, officials said, was a precautionary measure.
