Trustee who walked off job apprehended

A trustee who walked away from his job has been apprehended.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies received information on a possible location of Anthony Collins, Jr. Deputies set up a perimeter around the 6000 block of Common Street in Lake Charles and at 8:50 a.m. Friday deputies located Collins in a field.  

He was arrested and taken into custody.  He will be charged with escape.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's deputies are searching for an inmate trustee who walked off the job today on Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles. 

Anthony D. Collins Jr., 38, was working a litter detail at about 11 a.m. 

His last known address is 522 Bank Street in Lake Charles. 

He was last seen wearing an orange jumpsuit, which was later located on Landfair Drive in Lake Charles, a spokeswoman said. 

Collins is serving time for drug charges and for a violation of his probation on bank fraud charges, the spokeswoman said. 

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for Collins.  If anyone knows of Collins’ whereabouts, please call the Sheriff’s Office at 491-3605.
