The "Second Chance Saturday" adoption event, hosted by the Lafayette Parish Animal Shelter and Care Center (LASCC) will be held this Saturday, October 14.

The adoption is held on the second Saturday of every month and was created to give shelter animals a second chance at finding a loving home. The event will be held from 1pm to 3pm at the shelter located at 613 W. Pont Des Mouton Rd, in Lafayette.

A recent law signed by Mayor-President Joel Robideaux has significantly lowered adoption fees to $35 for dogs and puppies and $25 for cats and kittens. The shelter says that adoption fees are waived altogether for military veterans with IDs and senior citizens over the age of 65. Every adoptable animal is spayed or neutered, as well as, vaccinated and microchipped.

The shelter says they will not be taking in animals during the adoption day.
