Posted: Updated:

Police say a driver has been cited after a school bus crash in Abbeville.

Officials say that the bus crashed into a home in the 600 block of Franks Aly around 7:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Police say the driver of a car failed to yield at a stop sign, allegedly pulling out and hitting the bus. The bus did not stop, hitting two houses.

Children from three different Vermillion Parish schools were on the bus, police did not say where the bus was headed. Those involved in the crash were treated for minor injuries only.

The driver of the car, police say, has been cited for failure to yield.

A person on scene told KATC that the incident happened around 7:00 a.m. according to her relatives. The person said their parents home has sustained damage along with the family's rent house. The school bus hit both homes before hitting a car and flipping it and pushing it onto their back porch.

According to those on the scene, everyone seemed to be okay after the crash. Children, as well as the bus driver, were taken away by ambulance to the hospital.
