JEFFERSON PARISH, La. -

A Jennings man has been arrested, deputies say, for issuing forged checks totaling $3,000.

Officers in Jeff Davis report that in August, they received complaints that a person had forged another person's name on several checks. The victim says that those checks totaled $3,000.

After an investigation, 61-year-old James Achane was identified as the suspect. Achane allegedly knew the suspect and had worked at the victim's residence.

An arrest warrant was obtained and Achane was located and arrested by detectives on Monday, October 2, 2017. Achane was booked into the Jeff Davis Parish Jail on charges of forgery and theft.

No bond has been set.
