DeQuincy man killed in Calcasieu motorcycle crash

State Police report that a DeQuincy man is dead following a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle. 

On September 27, 2017, at around 5:00 a.m. troopers were called out to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 27 at Jim Pickens Road in Calcasieu Parish. An investigation revealed that a vehicle traveling east on Jim Pickens Road entered LA 27 to make a turn and moved into the path of a motorcycle. 

The motorcycle driver 24-year-old Steffan Russell Hardesty of Dequincy struck the vehicle. He was transported from the scene and later died from his injuries. 

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 24-year-old Gustavo Corpus of Texas, was charged with failure to yield at a stop sign and driving with a suspended driver's license. 

Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.  The crash remains under investigation.
