10-year-old killed in Lake Charles weekend shooting, another injured

Lake Charles Police are currently investigating a weekend shooting that left one child dead and a teenager in stable condition. 

Police say they were called out to a residence on North Shattuck Street on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at around 8:02 p.m. in reference to a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers found a 10-year-old boy, identified as Jaylyn Citizen, and another 17-year-old boy with gunshot injuries. A report indicates that the shooting happened at Citizens' home. 

Citizen was taken to a local hospital where officers say he later died from his injuries. The unidentified 17-year-old was also transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery. He is listed in stable condition.
