Ragin' Cajuns make dream come true for newest signee

LAFAYETTE, La. -

The Ragin' Cajuns take on ULM tomorrow at Cajun Field, and they will have a little bit of help from their newest team member.

Tay'Shawn Landry may not be as big as the other players, but what he lacks in stature and even age, he makes up for in spirit.

He has always had an immense love for football, but has never had the chance to be apart of a team.

Born weighing just one pound, the little fighter has never allowed his cerebral palsy to hold him back.

His grandmother, Marilyn Mitchell, says he has been fighting as long as he has been alive.

"Tay'Shawn was a fighter, and he has been fighting ever since," Marilyn said.

With the help of a national organization and spearheaded by UL, his dream of being on a team has come true.

Although he can't stand or walk on his own, he is looking forward to spending the season with the team from the sidelines.

His mother, Kimberly Mitchell, did a lot of footwork to make this happen.

"This means a lot to our family. He always wanted to play sports. He watches his cousins and watches football. So for me to do some footwork and finally make this happen means a lot," Kimberly said.

Tay'Shawn accepted his offer and signed his letter of intent Friday night.

He will begin with the team tomorrow.
