Roanoke family to end Christmas lights after 10 years

Posted: Updated:

They say that Christmas is about giving, and one family in Roanoke has given selflessly for the past ten years.

Debbie and Mason Lejeune have made Christmas magic for the past 10 years.

"About 10 years ago I decided to make a little area to have Santa sit out, and give the kids an opportunity to come out and sit on Santa's lap, take pictures and just have a good time," Lejeune said.

In the years following, mason Lejeune's wife-- became Mrs. Claus and the attraction started to grow.

But after several years, this Christmas couple--is retiring.

"We decided that we would go ahead and stop and try to enjoy Christmas in other ways."

"But now its getting to the point that since I retired from work three years ago, and just depending on my social security and things like that, its gotten to where its becoming too expensive."

It was a hard decision to make, and there are so many things he and his wife will miss, but one stands out.

"Just the happiness, and how excited they were to see this, and excited to know this was here. And just about every one of them would thank us so much and say God is going to  bless you all for doing this"

When he was asked what he wanted everyone to know, he left everyone with one powerful statement.

"Thank you for coming by and supporting us and letting us know that you enjoyed everything we have done for you. We have done it all for you, because we enjoyed making people have a great Christmas season"
