Dr. William H Johnson Jr, longtime Morgan City doctor, dies at 81

MORGAN CITY, La. -

Dr. William Johnson Jr., a long-time resident, and physician for the Morgan City area passed away Monday.  He was 81 years old.

Johnson was a native of Gideon, Missouri.  He received his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine, and served our country as a US Army surgeon during the Vietnam Era.  He was a member of the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Johnson maintained a practice in Morgan City for more than 50 years.  He also served three terms as a member of the Morgan City Council, including one term as Mayor Pro-Tem.  He is survived by three children and their spouses, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, 9am-11am at Sacred Heart Church, followed by a funeral at the church and burial at the Morgan City Cemetary.  Hargrave Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
