Enrollment numbers are up 11 percent , according to South Louisiana Community College. The college says that a total of 2,757 new students have enrolled in classes over the Fall 2016 semester.

SLCC campuses across Acadiana have seen an increase in students enrolling in programs like business, general studies, welding and practical nursing.

The college attributes the surge in enrollment to the increase in visits to high schools and engagements of recruiters and campus directors with potential students and their parents. SLCC has also conducted Student Success Live events at each of their campuses to introduce potential students to the admissions process, scheduling, and financial aid access, while helping them troubleshoot any potential problems.

In October, SLCC will hold a series of Open House events at campuses where potential students and parents can learn more about the college and it's programs.

These are the dates and times for the upcoming Open House events:
·      October 9 from 4 - 6 p.m.  - C.B. Coreil Campus in Ville Platte
·      October 11 from 5 - 7 p.m. - Lafayette Campus
·      October 12 from 4 - 6 p.m. - Gulf Area Campus in Abbeville
·      October 16 from 4 - 6 p.m. - Acadian Campus in Crowley
