Arrest made in Ville Platte shooting

Ville Platte Police have arrested a man wanted in connection with a Monday shooting.

Lawrence Fontenot, 24, was arrested at the Probation and Parole at the Probation and Parole Office in Ville Platte.  

He was booked on a warrant for attempted second-degree murder into the city jail. His bond is set at $100,000.

Officers responded to the scene of a shooting on September 11, 2017, on the 100 block of East Oak. Upon arrival, police officers say that they observed a male walking out of a residence with blood on his clothing. A single gunshot wound was located underneath his left arm. 

Police say that witnesses reported that the victim allegedly had an altercation with four other males when he was struck repeatedly, including being struck with a pistol. The victim had cuts and marks on his arm, face, and head. Sometime during the altercation, the victim was allegedly shot by one of the suspects. He was transported to a local hospital.
