Lafayette Fire Department holds 9/11 memorial ceremony

LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. -

The Lafayette Fire Department held their 9/11 memorial Monday morning to honor those who died during the terror attacks in 2001. 

Monday morning, Firefighters, Police officers, and government officials gathered in silence as sirens sounded on the moments when the terrorist attacks occurred that September morning 16 years ago.

A giant American flag was hung over steel beams from the World Trade Centers in New York City.  Almost 3,000 people lost their lives during the attacks which included The Twin Towers, The Pentagon, and in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. 

A wreath was placed at the base of the memorial by Lafayette Fire Department.
