Protesters desperately seeking their Senator

Kennedy Protest Kennedy Protest

A group of protesters with Indivisible Acadiana camped out on Pinhook Road last night, looking for U.S. Senator John Kennedy.

They didn't find him.

The group was protesting a fundraiser for Kennedy, which, according to a copy of the invitation obtained by KATC, was scheduled for Cafe Vermilionville last night. At some point, we're told by sources in the Republican Party, the fundraiser was cancelled.

However, the protesters were there, complaining that Kennedy has not hosted a town hall meeting for his constituents.

"He works for us, we are his constituents, he serves our interest.," said protester Jacqueline Phelps. "He serves the interest of all of Louisiana. He has shown no willingness to listen to his constituents."

We called the person in charge of the fundraiser to find out why it was cancelled, but we haven't heard back from her.
