A Lafayette Parish grand jury has indicted three central Louisiana men in connection with the 2007 murder of Malcolm Davis.

Daivs was beaten to death at a gas station on Jefferson Street. Part of the incident was caught on videotape. Earlier this year, Lafayette Police re-opened the case, and announced the arrest of the three men who were indicted Wednesday.

Kendall Smith, 32, of Plain Dealing; Marcus Smith, 29, of Alexandria and Edward Woods, 33 of Alexandria were all indicted on a charge of second-degree murder in connection with Davis' death.

If convicted, they face a mandatory sentence of life in prison without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.

At the time of their arrests, police said the victim had no connection to the suspects.  We're told the incident started from a shop-lifting incident, and the suspects "took it upon themselves to start an altercation" which led to Davis' death.
