LAFAYETTE, La. -

Sunday marks the second anniversary of the Grand 16 Theater shooting, a tragedy that shocked the nation, but also demonstrated the perseverance of the community.

Today, researchers with UL's history department hosted their "History Harvest" at Moncus Park at the Horse Farm in Lafayette to hear from the community and their individual recollections ahead of the anniversary.

The idea behind "History Harvest" is to study how individuals responded to a certain event.

Over the last year, UL history students have held "History Harvest" events, covering a wide range of topics, that encourage residents to bring in artifacts that contribute to a wider understanding of the region's past.

All collected data from "History Harvest" is made available to researchers within UL's Center for Louisiana Studies.
