Rainy pattern continues into the new work week

Posted: Updated:

As we head back to work, don't expect any big changes to the forecast as Mother Nature is stuck on repeat mode for at least another couple more days.

Thus, prepare for more rounds of isolated showers and storms along the coast during the morning followed by scattered showers and storms during the afternoon on Monday and Tuesday with highs in the upper 80s to near 90.

By Wednesday into Thursday we might finally begin to see this wet pattern come to an end as an area of high pressure will slide over the region at the surface combined with drier air aloft moving over Acadiana.

However, even with these factors, which should help to suppress the majority of the rain activity, we can not rule out a few pop-up showers each afternoon somewhere throughout Acadiana.

This drier pattern looks to continue Friday and into the weekend meaning you will finally have a chance to get caught up on cutting the grass as it has been growing like weeds thanks to these daily afternoon showers.

But you will want to get the grass cut during the morning or late in the evening before it gets too hot and humid as temperatures will really start to heat up across Acadiana as highs will climb to around 92-94 each afternoon and heat indices will begin to approach heat advisory levels around 105 for multiple hours.

So, it is that double edge sword again as after a few days of the scorching summertime heat and humidity you will be asking for those afternoon showers to return to help cool things off across the region.
