One man was killed this morning after losing control of his vehicle in Lafayette Parish.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m., state troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA 339 at Chemin Agreable Road.

The crash claimed the life of 22-year-old Cody Morgan of Baldwin.
Troopers say Morgan was traveling southbound on LA 339 when, for unknown reasons, he failed to negotiate a curve in the road. As a result, his vehicle began to slide sideways and travel off the roadway. His vehicle then struck a ditch, which caused the car to overturn.

A spokesman with Louisiana State Police Troop I says Morgan was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The victim sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on scene by the Lafayette Parish Coroner's Office.
It is unknown if impairment is a factor in the crash, according to the state police spokesman. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that all occupants of a motor vehicle must be restrained, regardless of seating position.  While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained.  Making good choices while in motor vehicles, such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions, can often mean the difference between life and death.
