Fort Hood solider killed in motorcycle accident

FORT HOOD, Texas -

 Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier who died of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident July 13 in Temple, Texas.

Spc. James Thomas Smith IV, 23, resident of Sachse, Texas, entered active-duty service in January 2015 as an explosive ordnance disposal specialist. He was assigned to the 752nd Ordnance Company, 79th Ordnance Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas, since April 2016.

Smith's awards and decorations include the Nation Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

Circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation by the Temple Police Department.
