A Ville Platte man has been arrested in connection with the Sunday slaying of a local woman who was walking to the store.

Kathy Weston was shot in what her family described as a crossfire situation.

On Wednesday, Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue said he had arrested Tiberrious Wilson, 19.

Wilson was booked on warrants for second degree murder, attempted second degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, illegal use of a weapon or dangerous instrument and carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Wilson was transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail where he remains incarcerated on a $1.4 million bond issued by Judge Chuck West.

Lartigue  said he wanted to remind citizens that this investigation remains active and requests anyone with any information to please contact the Ville Platte Police Department at 363-1313.  Your call will remain anonymous.
