UL Football Indefinitely Suspends 13 Players

Posted: Updated:

Thirteen UL football players are suspended indefinitely after being arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy to commit felony theft.

The players are Matthew Barnes, Joe Dillon, Robert Hunt, Denarius Howard, Jarvis Jeffries, LaDarrius Kidd, Terik Miller, Damar’ren Mitchell, Trey Ragas, Simeon Thomas, Levarious Varnado, D’Aquin Withrow and Jordan Wright.  All 13 have bonded out of the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

According to investigators, surveillance video shows the 13 players going to a room on the fourth floor of the Huger Hall dormitory and stealing around $2,400 worth of items from the room.  Police say the students surrendered after warrants for their arrests were issued.

In a press release, the university said, "The Department of Athletics is being respectful of the judicial process and will not discuss the incident that led to the players’ suspension."

Earlier this spring, another Ragin' Cajun, Artez Williams, was kicked off the team after being charged with second-degree rape in connection with an incident that happened in a dorm.
