Weekend Forecast

Posted: Updated:

Another week is in the books here in Acadiana and appropriately it will end similar to the way it began with a warm, humid afternoon, and the chance for a brief pop up shower.

Friday is shaping up to be the hottest day of the week with the afternoon highs approaching the 90 degree mark, and a heat index that will likely push it beyond that mark.

There's enough moisture in the air to justify a chance for a brief and isolated shower late in the afternoon, although showers won't be as numerous as we've seen at times this week.

This will pave the way to the weekend when we start to see some big changes arrive in the area as a front comes swinging through the region providing both cooler weather and some showers.

Saturday late morning the early streamer showers will begin to arrive ahead of the front, with the front itself expected to swing through late afternoon meaning an uptick in shower activity.

Rain will start to clear by the early evening and once the front moves through cooler air will come rushing in dropping temperatures into the 50s for early Sunday morning.

Sunday will be quite the contrast with a chilly breeze racing in from the north and temperatures that will struggle to make it to the 70s, even with plenty of sunshine.
