Louisiana State Police have identified the body of a pedestrian hit on Hwy 404 in Iberville Parish.

Troopers say that family members located the body of 46 year old Randy L. Romig of Plaquemine in a ditch alongside Hwy 75 where they knew he had been walking the night of April 17, 2017.

The incident occurred, Police say, as Romig was walking northbound along the side of LA Hwy 75 on April 17, 2017 at 9:00 p.m. At the same time, a vehicle was traveling northbound on LA Hwy 75 when for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle struck Romig as he was walking along the highway.

The driver of that vehicle contacted the Iberiville Parish Sheriff's Office and reported to them that he believed he has struck an object along the side of the road. Deputies went out to the location but could not locate any objects that the vehicle might have hit. Family members of Romig went out on searching for him on April 19, 2017 and were able to locate his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene

Troopers report that on the night of the crash Romig was wearing dark-colored clothing. Impairment on the part of Spencer is not suspected to have been a factor. The Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office and the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab assisted in the investigation.
