UL Police arrest former UL football player for rape at residence hall

UL Police have arrested a former football player for rape. 

The rape was reported to UL Police on Monday as having happened on a previous date at a residence hall on campus. 

The alleged assailant, who was known to the victim, was Artez Terrell Williams. Williams is a student and a former UL football player. He transferred from a junior college last year, and played six games for the Cajuns last fall as a defensive back. He was kicked off the team on March 31 for a "violation of team rules." 

Williams was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on a charge of second-degree rape. He remains in LPCC with bond set at $100,000 for his release.
