EUNICE, La. -

Today, several Acadiana residents head to Eunice for 7-year-old Gracie Zaunbrecher.

Two weeks ago while at a gymnastics meet, her parents noticed that her balance was off, and they immediately took her to the doctor.

A MRI confirmed her parents worst fears--Gracie has a brain tumor.

She was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma. DIPG is a rare and aggressive brain tumor in the part of the brain stem that controls essential bodily functions such as heartbeat, breathing, swallowing, eye movement, eyesight, and balance.

The tumor is inoperable and incurable.

Gracie will start radiation treatment in Houston next week in hopes of shrinking the tumor.

To help Gracie's parents, the community she is from and surrounding areas have put together a benefit to help cover medical expenses.

The benefit is from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. today at Devillier House Movers, located at 5328 Highway 190 in Eunice.

There will be a live and silent auction, baked goods, jam, jellies,  and crafts for purchase. The benefit will also offer a variety of food, face painting, and fun jumps.
