Lafayette man dead in shooting; police seeking tips

Lafayette Police are seeking information about a shooting that left a Lafayette man dead.

Police were called to Hansel Drive at about 2 a.m. Thursday. They found John Jones, 45, with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses saw a suspect fleeing the area in Jones' car, a white Buick Rendevous. The car was found abandoned at a local motel.

The investigation is ongoing as detectives are following leads, but they are asking for tips.
