ST. MARY PARISH -

A 55-year-old Abbeville man is accused of contractor fraud for allegedly accepting money for construction work and not completing the job.

Authorities say Irving M. Alexis was transported by an Iberia Parish correctional officer to the St. Mary Parish jail for a warrant following an investigation into an August 2016 complaint of contractor fraud.  The detective found evidence that Alexis accepted more than $34,000 from a victim in Sorrel for construction work that was never completed.

Bail on the warrant is set at $50,000.
