St. Mary Parish family begging for answers after a mother's murder

Posted: Updated:

A St. Mary Parish family wants answers after a mother of three was killed. Reynell Lockett was found dead inside a car off of highway 90 near the Baldwin Canal.
Her killer has yet to be found. However, her family believes her death was the result of domestic violence.

Lockett's family visited the place where her body was found Tuesday afternoon saying it's a painful reminder of her death.

"I was so heartbroken," the victim's son Renaud Richard said. " It took a chunk out of my heart."

Lockett's son Renaud Richard said Lockett was last seen with his father, Lockett's ex-husband. Her family says her ex-husband had been abusive. Richard said he saw the two leave to buy Christmas gifts for their children, but Lockett  never returned.

"The whole day she hadn't called and that's not like her," Richard said.  Lockett's family believes her ex husband is responsible for her death.
"One of the current officers said he saw Russell Richard Jr's (Lockett's ex-husband) car leaving from the scene where the body was found," Richard said.

Lockett's family says it's hard not having her around on the holidays..a time that was Lockett's favorite. Lockett was a breast cancer survivor and a mother of three. Her family says she was a fighter who had a strong faith, which they say is the same faith that's helping their family cope and forgive.

" As a Christian, I forgive him," the victim's sister Aline Lockett said. " I forgive him and I still love him, but I just want justice."  Richard added, " We're going to keep the joy in the family. We're not going to have our spirits down."
