According to WDSU, health officials are warning people to avoid the Bogue Chitto River after a levee breach in Brookhaven, Mississippi sends 6 million gallons of sewage into the water.

They report that officials say a levee breach at Brookhaven's sewage plant that caused gallons of water with sewage  to flow into the east branch of the Bogue Chitto River Saturday near the Louisiana-Mississippi state line.

The release is said to be under control and no additional sewage is expected to reach the river. Officials are asking that people stay away from the area until further notice.
