Man killed in Iberia Parish officer involved shooting identified

UPDATE: State Police have identified the man killed in the officer-involved shooting as 40-year-old Shannon Labit of New Iberia.


State Police say Iberia Deputies were responding to a domestic disturbance call where a male suspect was accused of stabbing two women. According to troopers, deputies say after they arrived, the man barricaded himself inside of the home, and deputies were unsuccessful at disarming him. Eventually deputies say the suspect came at them with the knife, when the deputy fired one shot at him. The suspect was killed;  


State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Iberia Parish. We're told it happened on McDonald Street this evening and involved an Iberia Parish deputy. The condition of the suspect is unknown at this time. We'll have more information as it becomes available.
