The two remaining candidates for Chief of Police in Crowley have just a few days left to make their case to voters before Saturday's runoff.

On the runoff ballot are Scott Fogleman and Jimmy Broussard.

Broussard began his career with the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office before moving to the Crowley P.D. in 2003. He claimed, "I'm one of the only candidates left in the race who has worked every division in the City of Crowley Police Department, and as such, I have a knowledge of what is needed, what is constituted, what they need to help function."

Fogleman has been an officer with the Crowley Police Department for 12 years. He said, "I'm not a politician. I'm a police officer. That's what I do for a living. That's what I love to do. That is the reason why I'm running for chief."

Both candidates agree that one of biggest issues in Crowley is drugs.

Broussard said, "When we can take a more vigorous, forceful attitude towards making a dent in that industry, that helps the citizens to feel safer. It helps our young people to possibly avoid those downfalls."

Fogleman says he would like to have more uncover agents on the streets. He said, "I'm not telling you that I will completely and totally rid this city of drugs. I will do my best to do what I can to rid as much drugs from the city as possible."

The candidates hope to produce a stronger, more engaging police department.

Fogleman said, "My goal is to have a well-trained, well-educated properly functioning police department."

His opponent also added, "Community policing is another thing, making sure that our community is involved. We have to work together to make a safe community."
