The voters of Washington will decide if they will keep their police chief on April 9.
This is the second attempt to recall Police Chief Ronelle Broussard. The first attempt failed because of a lack of signatures on the petition.
A recall petition circulated by Concerned Citizens of Washington gathered signatures and was then forwarded to the Secretary of State's Office. A spokeswoman for Secretary of State confirmed Thursday that the signatures had been confirmed and forwarded to the Governor's Office.
Cheryl Milburn, registrar of voters for St. Landry Parish, confirmed that she received a proclamation from the Governor's Office last week, calling the election for April 9.
The group has accused Broussard of living outside the city limits and question his claim that he was injured on the job.
Broussard declined comment on the petition.
