After a highly successful inaugural race, the Zydeco Marathon has made a donation in the amount of $15,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana, the 2014 official charity of the event.
"We are thrilled to make such an important contribution to Big Brothers Big Sisters, a local organization that plays a tremendous role in shaping our youth." said race director Michael Howard. "Their volunteers came out on
race day and played a significant role in the overall success, and for that we're very appreciative."
Betty Blair, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters added, " We are grateful to the organizers of the recent Zydeco Marathon for their generous donation to our agency and the children we serve in Acadiana. Funds raised
through this first-time community event will enable us to continue serving established mentoring matches. Additionally, this funding gives us an opportunity to match many at-risk children already on our waiting list with caring adult mentors who offer positive support and guidance."
Zydeco Marathon has officially opened registration for 2015, on May 1st at noon. The event will take place on March 1, 2015 and is expecting an even larger participation from runners throughout the state and country in year two.
