Zurich Classic tournament director steps down

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The director of the Zurich Classic golf
tournament in New Orleans has stepped down after five years in the
position.
Tommy Fonseca's departure was announced Friday by the board of
directors for the Fore!Kids Foundation, the charity that operates
the annual PGA tournament. Fonseca also is stepping down as
president of the foundation.
Fonseca told The Times-Picayune he is leaving to spend more time
with his family while he looks for his "next challenge." Board
chairman Buddy Seeling said the board concluded that its approach
to managing the foundation wasn't "compatible" with Fonseca's.
Fonseca has held both jobs since 2006. He signed a contract
extension in 2009 that was to run through 2013.
The board plans to form a committee to search for Fonseca's
replacement.
