Zonta Club Announces 2013 Woman of Achievement Award

The Zonta Club of Lafayette announces its 2013 Woman of Achievement Maggie Warren. Maggie will be honored at the Woman of Achievement and Awards Brunch on Saturday, March 2nd at Abacus at 530 Pinhook from 10:30 - 1:00 p.m.

On September 8, 1978, the Zonta Club of Lafayette was chartered by the Zonta Club of Baton Rouge. Maggie Warren was elected charter president.

The Zonta Club of Lafayette is part of District 10 of Zonta International. Other states in District 10 are Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas. Maggie has served District 10 as chairman of the Status of Women, Organization and Membership, Nominating and Service Committees. In 2000 District 10 Governor Dr. Mary Frances Gardner appointed Maggie to serve as District Secretary. The following biennium, Maggie was elected Lt. Governor and then in 2004 was elected Governor of District 10. During her years on the District 10 Board, Maggie actively served each of the clubs providing support for membership recruitment and rejuvenation. She traveled to each club on several occasions and supported their community presence and fundraising efforts.

In addition to making friends in the Zonta International world, Maggie feels that her greatest joys in Zonta are the lifelong friends she has made in the Lafayette club and participating in the chartering of the Comeaux High School Z Club.
