ZACHARY, La. (AP) - The Zachary City Council has approved an amendment to the city's alcohol ordinance that will allow wine and liquor sales on Sundays, beginning at noon.
Under current law, beer sales begin at 12:30 p.m. for stores and restaurants. Wine and liquor cannot be sold on Sunday.
The Advocate reports the council city council voted unanimously Tuesday to change the ordinance.
Mayor David Amrhein clarified that bars will still not be allowed to open on Sunday. He added that no exception will be allowed for New Year's Eve, the Super Bowl or other events.
