YOUNGSVILLE, La. (AP) - Residents in Youngsville will pay higher garbage collection fees beginning Friday.
Rick Garner, the city's chief executive officer, say the monthly charge will rise from $14 to $16 with the next billing cycle.
According to the minutes of a recent Youngsville City Council meeting, The Advertiser reports the rate increase for customers will help account for the increase in garbage rates from the provider to the city. There is an anticipated loss of $47,000 with the current garbage rate of $14.
Garner says the city signed a new contract with its provider, Waste Management, last year, and that there will be no changes to residents' garbage collection schedules.
