Youngsville officer charged with DWI

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Gregory Carriere, Youngsville's assistant police chief, has been formally charged with driving while intoxicated and careless operation of a vehicle.
The arrest took place Jan. 8, but the
misdemeanor charges were only filed last week by the 15th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
Carriere's arraignment has been set for May 11.
The 44-year-old Carriere was arrested after he allegedly crashed a party trolley into a tow truck and utility pole on La. Highway 343.
