Youngsville fastest growing town in Louisiana

Youngsville grew by 5 percent from 2011 to 2012, more than any other city, town or village in Louisiana. That's according to new population estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau on Thursday.

Youngsville's population grew from an estimated 8,555 in 2011 to 8,985 in 2012.

The report estimated the population for more than 300 Louisiana municipalities, and, along with Youngsville, three more are in the top 20:

3. Iowa, +4.5%, growing from 3,805 people to 3,979.
11. Broussard, +2.9%, growing from 8,380 people to 8,625.
13. Carencro, +2.5%, growing from 7,885 people to 8,082.

Meanwhile, only two Acadiana cities are among the top 20 municipalities that lost residents from 2011 to 2012. They are:
20. Morgan City, -1.2%, decreasing from 12,275 people to 12,122
20. Franklin, -1.2%, decreasing from 7,483 people to 7,577
