You Gotta Move Goes Red is well into its second week. I found out that Lafayette Consolidated Government offers some great options to help you move! Director of Parks and Recreation Gerald Boudreaux says the programs and parks are a commitment on the part of the government to help people improve their quality of life in Lafayette Parish by helping them to work out on a regular basis and stay healthy. There are many hiking and walking trails at several of the parks in Lafayette and you can see that list here http://www.lafayettela.gov/ParksandRecreation/dpt600parkslist.asp
There department also offers many fitness classes at all 10 recreation centers. You can see a schedule here http://www.lafayettela.gov/upload/contents/337/Centers%20and%20Programs%20Monthly%20Activities.pdf
Boudreaux says anyone with questions should call the center. The staff will gladly help you get started or answer any questions you may have. Registration is not necessary. Http://www.lafayettela.gov/ParksandRecreation/dpt630.asp
Remember, it is free to use the walking/ hiking trails at any time. There is a small fee for the classes but Boudreaux says it's usually just a few dollars per class and you only pay when you go.
So GET MOVING!!! ~Tracy:)
