I climbed on a stationary bike and tried out a cycling or spin class... and it was not easy. But there are a few things that make it a GREAT choice if you wanna get moving. First, you control the resistance on the bike with the knob. Second, you aren't doing it alone and there is great music! Third, it's easier on your joints. And you don't have to do it for a full hour. I only lasted 30 minutes. One lady was coming into the class as I was leaving and told me that's how she does it every time. Mary Beth Langlinais with City Club says if you can only hang for 10 or 15 or 20 minutes... no problem! Just give it a try and do what you can. As Mary Beth so eloquently puts it, the biggest benefit comes from moving from a couch potato to very moderate levels of physical activity in incremental amounts. Every little bit counts. Remember, YOU GOTTA MOVE!
