How are you doing, my movers? Let me know... email@example.com. Up until this point in You Gotta Move Goes Red, our training strategies have focused on cardio. Now we are gonna kick it up a notch by incorporating strength training exercises. (There is a video of the exercises available in the video player so you can make sure you are doing them correctly.) Cardio, of course, works out the most important muscle in the body... the heart! But, by building up muscle mass through strength training, you burn more calories at rest. YAY! Coach Dawn Foreman says the exercises outlined in our Week 3 Training Strategy will only add about 10 minutes to your workout and they will help strengthen many of your muscle groups, especially your core. Your core is your stomach and back muscles that help with balance and posture. One more reason to work out those muscles? Dawn says that, as we age, some of the reasons we lose independence is because we lose our sense of balance and our muscular strength and flexibility. Strength training now can help you later in life so you can stay strong and live better longer! YOU GOTTA MOVE!!!
