The fun continues on Saturday, October 12th starting at 8:00am with a Roux Run, following with a Cajun/Creole Food Fest. Taste Cajun and Creole cuisine (everything but Gumbo) in Bouligny Plaza (Downtown New Iberia).
Enjoy music from 11:00am - 2:00pm by Ryan Foret & Foret Tradition, 2:30pm - 5:30pm by Chubby Carrier and The Bayou Swamp Band and closing out with Chris Ardoin from 6:00pm -9:30pm.
The 24th World Championship Gumbo CookOff is Sunday, October 14th. Nearly 100 teams of amateur and professional cooks will compete for the 24th World Championship Gumbo CookOff title and bragging rights to the world's best gumbo. The teams must prepare the roux on site without the benefit of electricity. To ensure that everyone abides by the "Gumbo Code of Ethics," the Gumbo Police inspect each team's ingredients before they begin cooking and patrol the plaza throughout the day. All types of gumbo will be sold beginning at 11:00am.
Sunday's music lineup kicks off with Geno Delafose & French Rockin' Boogie from 9:00am - 12:00pm followed by Jamie Bergeron & the Kickin' Cajuns from 12:30pm -3:30pm.
More than 40,000 people attend throughout this three day event which is free to the public with food, soft drinks, and beer on sale. For more information click here or call (337) 364-1836.
