The Wood Group confirms that the three passengers hospitalized following this morning's helicopter crash in the Gulf of Mexico are Louisiana residents.
Wood Group spokeswoman Bobbie Ireland says the company will not name those employees or their hometowns.
Panther Helicopters, the owner of the helicopter that crashed, has not yet announced the name of the pilot who died in the crash.
According to Ireland, the helicopter was contracted by the Wood Group to carry its employees during a shift change. The pilot as coming from the Main Pass 107 platform operated by Energy XXI. Ireland says the platform is located approximately 10 to 15 miles off the Louisiana coast. Ireland says the helicopter was on its way to the Panther Helicopter facility in Belle Chasse at the time of the crash.
Ireland says two of the Wood employees were injured and the third was not hurt. All three were transported to the LSU Medical Center in New Orleans for treatment and observation.
