SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team was swept by Sun Belt Conference foe Texas State 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Center.
"We came up short today but we had our chances in both doubles and singles," head coach Greg Harkins said. "What's important is that we can learn from this match and improve. Tomorrow is another opportunity for our girls, and I know they are excited about it. We just need to stick to the process of getting better every day."
Despite Juliette Clement and Melissa Burckhartt winning 8-4 on court two in doubles, the Cajuns (2-1) dropped the doubles point. Texas State's duo of Jessica Kahts and Ana Gutierrez edged out Nicole Breaux and Nelo Phiri, 8-6, on court one to clinch the point.
The Bobcats (2-2) swept singles competition. Eva Dench clinched the match for Texas State on court six defeating Juliette Clement 7-6, 6-1.
Louisiana returns to action tomorrow at 11 a.m. at UTSA. Following the match with the Roadrunners, the Cajuns return home to Cajun Courts for a doubleheader with Alcorn State and Xavier (La.) on Feb. 12 starting at 2 p.m.
