Woman shot to death in Jefferson

JEFFERSON, La. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the shooting death of a Jefferson Parish woman.
Col. John Fortunato, a department spokesman for the sheriff's office, says a man walked into Ochsner Medical Center about 2:25 a.m. Tuesday and reported that he had found a woman, who appeared to have been shot, in her nearby apartment.
Fortunato said officers entered the apartment and found the body of a middle-aged woman lying on the floor, suffering from several gunshot wounds.
The woman's name has not been released. Investigators have not released any information on a possible suspect or motive in the shooting.
